Is there a way to tell mudlet not to parse a semicolon in the command line? For example, if I want to do : "say You're an idiot; go away"
It's probably a simple solution but i can't figure it out. I've tried using escape characters (You're an idiot\; go away / You're an idiot~; go away.) to no avail, and also tried the MUSH way (You're an idiot;; go away) with similar results.
Can't figure this out
Re: Can't figure this out
The semicolon may be set as the command separator, check the settings and change it to what you want it.
Re: Can't figure this out
I'd support an exceptions list. I'm used to using the semi-colon as a separator from way back in my zmud days, but at certain times I do want to be able to exempt it. like, for example, using ";)" at the end of a SAY in the IRE games changes the output to "says with a smile and a wink..."
Re: Can't figure this out
So, go into settings and change the command separator.
Re: Can't figure this out
there a reason that \ doesn't escape it like it does everything else?
Re: Can't figure this out
Not convenient - then you'd need to escape the escape symbol and so forth.
Personally, I've set it to - ;; - and haven't had any issues since.

Re: Can't figure this out
I'd hate to have to change what I use as a command separator. I've been using ";" since high school, and it's a common standard in programming. I'd much rather see exceptions.Vadi wrote:Not convenient - then you'd need to escape the escape symbol and so forth.

Re: Can't figure this out
Oh, right, I didn't think about changing the command separator itself. I guess that works too. Thanks, guys.
Re: Can't figure this out
Yeah, I think that if would be nice to have ;; as a default command separator
