Granted looking into whether mudlet would compile with it would also be an issue, but I thought QtSpeech was usable as of Qt 5.8 (Oh wait that was supposed to be released 11/29, they're talking January now)

I don't think qspeech/texttospeech is the right way to go - exposing a11y and making mudlet keyboard-navigatable seems more correct to me; then the platform's accessibility tool can pick up on that and do whatever it needs to.
