Feature Request: clear command line

Post by DanaLea73 »

first of all, an admission.. I was a zMud user for years so that's what I'm used to and the only thing I can compare to.

sometimes when mudding, you can be in the middle of typing a long sting of text, a comment on friend talk or a say for example, when you suddenly need to do something else... and need the command line free to do that. In zMud, simply hitting the down arrow cleared the command line. You'd do what you needed to do, then an up arrow would give back whatever you were typing before you cleared it.

currently the only ways I know of to clear the command line while in the middle of typing is to:
hit enter. not always advisable depending on what you were typing.
use the backspace. when time is of the essence, not very practical.
use the mouse to highlight then hit backspace. best, but clumsy and awkward.

and please, if I am missing how to do this already, PLEASE inform me... thanks!

it's not mudlet-specific, but you can use

shift+home , then ctrl+x to cut the txt into your clipboard. Do what you need to, then ctrl+v to put it back in.

ok. I'd rather the down arrow cuz that's what I'm used to (smirk) but I can use shift+home.

Thanks for the reply. :)

oh, I'm not poo-pooing the request. Just giving you a viable alternative in the meantime/in case it gets turned down.

I know, no worries, I didn't take it that way. :)

This is a feature that has been requested before. It's going to get included in the future.
