Need a refresher

Hi,
I'm returning to MUDs after something like a 20 year hiatus. I used to be a scripting wizard back then, on Zmud, but I don't remember SQUAT now; I wouldn't even be able to find my way around Zmud nowadays. Granted part of that is due to combat-related memory loss, but either way, that chunk of my memory is ded.
That said, I literally can NOT remember what the heck I'm supposed to do with mapping scripts - where to put them, how to use/implement them, nothing. I'm gaming primarily on Shattered Isles, using Mudlet 2.1 on a Linux system.
