Mudlet-side detection of mapper scripts

Mudlet needs to somehow detect whenever a mapping script is installed, so it can prompt the user on what to do. Do any of the script authors have a preference on how should this be done?
I was thinking some some sort of an agreed-upon global to set would do it.
