It seems that Nokia, after their new relationship with Microsoft, is getting rid of it's Qt assets it bought from Trolltech a bit ago. There's been word that Brisbane's Qt developers are going get fired*, and they want to get rid of the Qt division altogether.
Now this isn't all that bad as another company working on a Qt-based IDE with a tighter focus on GPU programming has already opened doors and is hiring, and the project is open-source, but these are interesting times to keep tabs on Qt since less paid developers working on it would have an impact on the development rate.
* - didn't know there was a Qt office in my city! Maybe I'll attend the QQ party if they'll have one.
Qt's future
Re: Qt's future
Ah nice. Qt's commercial backer, Digia, decided to buy it off Nokia: http://www.digia.com/en/Home/Company/Pr ... rom-Nokia/
Re: Qt's future
The future of the free edition of Qt is not in danger because of old contracts between the KDE foundation and Trolltech and Nokia http://www.kde.org/community/whatiskde/ ... dation.php
Re: Qt's future
That's certainly true, though the progress of it's development will be slowed down without as much commercial backing...
