Yep, quite possible. One of the checkboxes at the bottom of the mapper (you might have to click the blue 'up arrow' bar you see at the bottom of your screenshot) is "Info". Check/uncheck it as needed to change the state of the extra info.
I've been having issues of late with my profile being wiped out when quitting as well (maps too). I assumed this was something I was doing, so interesting to hear others are encountering it.
