Re: Mapping and setting up health bars.

I've had discussions in the past with the owner of New Worlds Ateraan , and I'm afraid he's one of those mud owners who strongly opposes the use of graphics in his game, even referring to automapping as "cheating". Obviously graphics are handled at the client end, so he can't actually stop you from ...

Re: Mudlet-2.0-test3 released

In this version on Windows 7 (Professional x64), any sound played continues playing even if another sound is started, and thus I'm not entirely sure how to stop a sound from playing once it's started... The last version I used (rc3) would stop playing all previous sounds if a new sound was triggere...

Re: Creating a desktop environment style GUI

Hey, some feedback on the UI - I think you should increase the bottom border size, it looks better. It already looks like the second image on my computer (see the screenshot below). I think I really need to make the whole thing resize dynamically though. For some reason the bigger selection avatar ...

Re: Mudlet and Unicode (+GitHub repository)

If currently Mudlet does not support CHARSET selection, I can try to look how it should be done and try to implement in Mudlet. Can you give me details of some mud server to look at? CHARSET is defined by RFC 2066 , and works like this: Server : IAC DO CHARSET Client : IAC WILL CHARSET Server : IAC...

Re: Mudlet and Unicode (+GitHub repository)

Full unicode support would be great sometime in the future, but in the meantime it would still be fantastic to have the partial support (re)implemented. It's not only good for non-English MUDs. The game I'm developing uses single-glyph unicode characters as high as 0x2588 in the map display– would ...

Re: MXP enabled test version released

If I click "Settings", the "General" tab has an MXP section at the bottom. This section is ghosted out, and lists the "MXP Mode" as "MXP off". However MXP is definitely on and working. However it seems to be displaying all of the links blue, even when the mud specifies different colours for them. Ot...

Re: added MXP support to Mudlet

Excellent news, thanks!

CoffeeMUD (coffeemud.net 23) has pretty extensive MXP support. God Wars II uses MXP for clickable links (eg if you type 'eq' the item names are all clickable).

Re: Connection problem with non-IRE mud

I ended up rewriting my negotiation code as it had become quite messy, and the problem went away, so I never was able to pinpoint it exactly. However I've been noticing the same issue on other muds, and I think I may have found the cause. The original MCCP1 used the wrong subnegotiation sequence for...

Re: Look and Feel

I think the MUDs that stay around do generally seem to evolve and improve. The problem is there are far fewer quality MUDs out there now then when I first started playing. So it seems the amount and diversity of servers are contracting, while the ones that do remain do in fact evolve. Are you sure ...

Re: Look and Feel

Recently I decided since I can't find my "home" again I'll create my own. The only problem is I can plainly see that MUDs are dying. People have been claiming that regularly for over twenty years, long before you even started mudding. Yet muds continue to evolve and improve. The one thing I want to...
