Getting festival tts to work in Mudlet

I am curious how to get the text-to-speech program festival to work in Mudlet. I have searched a lot, but have not found anything to really help me out. Are there any scripts or plugins around to integrate festival with Mudlet?
Any help would be awesome!

I am running Mudlet in Linux Mint 17 (ubuntu 14.04 lts).
