Is it possible to remove the bottom controls?

Nope - but in some situations that I don't think we ever got nailed down they would become invisible which was/is a pain for us as others wanted them showing...

Why do you want to remove them anyhow, are you that short of screen real estate? I would warn you that there should also be a status line underneath everything else which when someone finally gets it enabled properly will take up a somewhat similar vertical amount of space! By the way, do you just mean those six buttons (in order left to right):

goto earlier search result
goto later search result
toggle display of timestamps
toggle recording a replay {output of MUD server, that can be replayed later to test scripts or relive an epic event}
toggle logging main console to file (in plain text or HTML)
EMERGENCY STOP, a toggle to pause all scripts/triggers/timers etc. when something has gone really wrong and you are, for instance, spamming the MUD server

Or do you include the search entry box to the left of those controls and the timing display on the right of them as well in your rejection?
