Odd line breaks in the middle of sentences

Post by sighfigh »

I have been wanting to transition to Mudlet for a long time but have never made the leap because I get these weird line breaks on the mud that I play 3Scapes port 3200.

The linebreaks happen all over the place and they all seem repeatable.

Below is what happens.
This is the center of Foundation. A well-kept but simple cobbled street
runs north and south. There is a statue of a man here in the middle of
the stree
t. To the east a low-hung whitewashed building buzzes with
activity.
This is what I should get.

activity.
Now, the odd part is that I only get the error when I type the 'look' command once, but if I stack the command twice or use it with another command, it works fine. This particular one is happening at the end of a word but there are other times where it cuts a word in two

Does anyone have any ideas? I feel like I have tried every conceivable option in the mudlet options.

Just to double-check - you've tried setting the line wrapping to be bigger?

Yes I have tried that. That was my initial thought as well.

A recording that shows this (and contains what the Server is sending to Mudlet) might help us to see what is being sent - and how Mudlet deals with it, during a session hit the icon at the bottom of the main console with the video-cassette icon on it to start recording and then press it again to stop.

When I came home today to try it out I was not getting the issue. After I came back from dinner it seems the issue is back again.

I took two logs. You can get them here (Dropbox)

In the first one I am using the command 'sc' and you can see how, sometimes, usually when there is just one command sent, that there is an issue with the line break after the kills number. Then when commands are sent in batch the issue sometimes clears up. This issue was not happening earlier today, but is happening now.

The second one is showing the issues with the line break in one of the rooms when I enter it or do a look command.
This was also not happening earlier today.

Could it be some type of lag issue?

I had a bit of time over this last week and I completely uninstalled Mudlet, reinstalled, then ran tests on a completely blank profile, nothing loaded at all. Still having the same issue.

What happens if you disable the "Fix unnecessary linebreaks on GA servers" option in Main Display settings?

Oh I should probably also mention, that I have not found another mud client that has this same behaviour. zMud, cMud, Mushclient etc...all work fine.

I tried to see if I could get the described behavior to occur for me, when I connected... and didn't see anything like what you are describing. Granted, I just created a brand new character and wandered around the beginning town for a bit, so maybe there is something that I missed. Are you sure there isn't a trigger or something that you have added that could be causing the problem?
