I would love something like this. Either a way to have a daemon instance running remotely and the interface opened locally, or a way to chain instances of Mudlet so that the input and the output of the remote instance is simply piped through a port to the local instance on your PC.

In both cases the scripts would reside on the remote instance, the local instance just displays the output sent through it. With hosted server prices dropping like mad, this is a great way for people far away from mud servers to still cure quickly. As an added bonus, if you have local connectivity issues the server will not connect and can keep you healing at least making it better to deal with lag or connection drops.

Oh please please please.

Well according to my understanding of the SSH solution you could run the Mudlet instance on your near-to-MUD server proxy and display on your local X server(display) but the bandwidth to do that would be, ahem, somewhat significant - most likely only feasible on a LAN which doesn't address the original problem...
